Lakeshore Chorale - Music For Life

Lakeshore Chorale

CONGRATULATIONS! Nearly three weeks ago, we finished our season with what may have been our best concert in 7 years. Your confident musicality was displayed from the beginning to the end of the program. The audience was delighted.

"Music is only one way God lets us know what is waiting for us in His Kingdom. Last night I was able to attend the Lakeshore Chorale concert "The Poet Speaks" and it was incredible. The talented professional performers did an outstanding job of making us feel like we really had stepped into a place called heaven! I can't thank you enough for your hard work, dedication and love of the art of music. Looking forward to the next season! Thank You!”

Thanks again for taking us on a wonderful journey!

My Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed last night’s concert. The beautiful voices and the variety of music was a rare treat. The choreography of the choir’s repositioning was graceful and precise and kept us alert and engaged. I particularly loved the comedic numbers, both the short, wry verses by Mark Twain and the blockbuster Rutabaga! The precision of the Latino flavored number with it’s weaving in and out of sounds and words was amazing. The more serious selections were lifted by the integrity of the blended voices.

I smiled so much listening to your vegetable number that my face hurt after the concert!

To you and all those who presented this lovely concert I say Rah!!

Thank you!!

Finally, here is a note from the choir director at Alverno College who heard us live:

Very well done, Lakeshore Chorale! You all sounded great. Lots of classics, well sung. Weep No More, Dancing on the Edges, and Peace of Wild Things were standouts. Dancing on the Edges is wonderful new to me, and tough it seemed? You handled it well. Super creative use of the Mark Twain. Just like getting served a scoop of sherbet. Palate cleansing. All around, well done!

For over 2000 years, choral music has been inspiring the hearts of people throughout the world in their concert halls and places of worship. The Lakeshore Chorale carries on that significant tradition today and into the future. It is a diverse group of musical friends whose common interests are a love of singing and choral music. The ensemble is unique in its sense of community, and in its commitment to musical excellence and growth in a strongly supportive and welcoming environment.

The LC has been around since 1983 sharing with local audiences affordable opportunities to hear live performances of wonderful, exciting music. Directed by Neil Bubke, and accompanied by Joseph Hauer, the Chorale has provided the singers and accompanying instrumentalists the opportunity to participate in performances of high-quality sacred and secular choral works.

The Chorale consists of auditioned members from Sheboygan and the surrounding counties. Typically, four concerts are presented each year between September and May offering an extensive and varied repertoire, including Palestrina, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Gilbert and Sullivan, Spirituals, Folk Music, and PDQ Bach.

The Lakeshore Chorale has performed in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic in four separate tours. Performances in Sheboygan's sister city, Esslingen, Germany, the Abbey at Bath, England, the Karlskirche, Vienna, and the Jesuitenkirche, Innsbruck, have been thrilling highlights for the ensemble. The Chorale has also performed in some of the finest concert halls and churches throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.

Membership consists of adults: high-school graduates and older. Auditions will be held by appointment for the current season. New members are accepted on the basis of need, choral balance, vocal ability, musicianship, and attitude.
